Transmission Fluid needs to be replaced between 20-30K mi. Just use Dextron III and you will be ok.

The good thing is Honda does not use the Filter...but you may want to change the fluid more often due to this reason.

It's even easier than changing the engine oil.

You can go up to 24K before your next Transmission oil changed. Agree with pikachu, don't take it to the shop. They ripped you off for drained the fluid and refilled it.

Honda used transmission fluid difference from all other manufactor. So it better off you go to the dealer and buy the fluid from them usually $2.50-3.00 a qt. and it take about 3.5-4 qt. to refilled.

Nam, if you used Dextron III, you need to add an additional additived to it. If you go to the any dealer parts counter and asked them, they tell you the same thing.

Nguyenquynh,

Hi TimCT,
I have a Toyota 95 Corolla and I changed the trans fluid and filter every two years. It is very easy process:
1.Use the jack to lift the front of your car up
2.Unplug the drain nut (just like engine oil)
3.Lower your car so the fluid will be drained out when your car on balance surface
4. Unscrew all the bolds around the trans oil pan and take it down
and clean it
5.unscrew the filter
Do the reverse process for putting it back.

Good luck

there is more than... drain and refill (specially older car)

On the older car:

1. the transmission oil pan have mor nuts or bolts. Sometimes you may have to remove all the nuts or bolts out of the transmission oil pan before you can drain the transmission oil out.
2. may use wd-40 to spray those nuts and bolts to take the rust out. If you brake these nuts and bolts then..... it will cost you more to fix....

On the new car:
1. things is better there will be a hex nut to remove to drain the oil out.

I own toyota van with automatic transmission and change it every two years or 20k miles.

My car is manual transmission... I don't change anything..
