I'm planning to buy my wife a brand new car. I have narrow down to 2 models: 2003 Nissan Altima vs Toyota Camry. Before I decide which one to buy, I would like to ask all of you, which is more reliable>?
If you own one of the car, have you ever had any problems? if yes, could you tell what it is?
Thanks ahead.

Camry has a good engine, Altima will have some Transmission problem when they get old.

my mom own 2001 camry, my dad own 96 camry with more than 65k miles <--- this 1 never have any problem but recently trade in for the 4Runner Limited :)
 Camry
I'd buy 2003 Altima because it is better style and more room. Both r good quality. I have 1987 Stanza which is older model for Altima, never have problem w/ tranny or engine. Nissan is a lot cheaper and u can get better deal. It is just my opion, i have Toy., Niss. and Hond., but most likely will stay w/ Nissan for the future automobile(s). I always buy it new and keep it awhile.

ông boss tui nói là ổng lái xe đi rồi về đậu lại .. có khi đề hong nổ phải crank nó nhiều lần and try real hard to get it to work. ông đêm lại dealer complain .. tên manager nói là within 2 or 3 weeks he also has like 10 customers complain the same problem and Nissan is aware of it but does not have a fix for the problem yet .
too bad .. cái xe nhìn ngon lành .. mạnh lại good handling nữa .

Trời,
xe mua mới mà bị như dzị còn gì là "reliability" nữa :D
Think about this senerio.
In a cold freezing night, U went to a club in your new Nissan.
When getting out of a club late (around 1-2am), U cannot start your car for who knows how long.
If u're a guy and go out with a girl, how "quê" that would be :D
If u're a girl, how scary and dangerous it can get

I would go for the Altima
1) bigger engine
2) sporty
3) lots of room
did you look at the VW Passat? I'll pick the Passat over the Camry and the Altima

I don't know of Altima being bigger. I test drove both. I like the camry better. It is more stable than altima. I test driving up hill. But, the maxima is much much better
I would go for HondaAccord 2003 because i have one. :D :D

I'll go with the Camry. Altima look nice but perform poorly.
Nothing build by Nissan is such a bad on performance, you just to give a chance. Have you read the Ward Automobile Magazine, the engine names for the best engine in 10 years, Altima shared it engine with Maxima, G35 coupe, G35, and legendary Z350, and you call that is bad performance............Plus it was a North American Car of the Year in case you forget. No comment on Camry.

The 2003 Nissan Altima 2.5S that I currently own has about 190's HP I think
It has been performing very good since the day I bought it and I have to say I am very pleased with the car.
None of the problems mentioned above has happened to me yet, maybe I'm lucky??
I chose the Altima because it certainly looks more stylish and sophisticated compared to the Camry(camry isn't bad either but the 2003 Altima just rules)
For reliability I would have to say Camry got quite a reputation.
This is my first Altima I hope I wont be disappointed.
Are you sure it 190 h/p? Factory built Altima is 175 2.5 litre, 240 on 3.5 litre.

why bother spending that much money, just get her a GEO METRO, save you big bucks on gas, plus it's around 7k for a new metro, it's a small car, yes i know, but we're asians, not many are big. so yea:)
What the heck is geo metro? Never heard of that name...
Get the Camry LE V6 not the 4cyl since it's a big car.
The ride is softer and more quiet and reliability is much better
than the Altima.
True Camry is know for it realiability, you know why? Because it and the Windom share it engine with each other. But look on the other side, Altima is not bad either like i said in the previous post, Altima was around i think 1994, on the hand Camry 85 or 86. What am trying to say is, both car are good depend on the taste of that person. I would go Camry too if it made in Japan, if it not forget it. Am not trying to be bius or something, but the foreign cars made out of Japan is not as realiable as it made in Japan. Why? The quality over Japan is higher than in the US, too many demand for it, workers get tired well you know. What would you pick? Quality or quantity
I'd an visit to US 2 years ago, i was there about 1 month, and i had a chance to read an article on the Consumer Report many of you know, it said the technology in the US of making cars in 90 can compare to Japan in it early 80's. Have you guys ever see and Corolla with blur woods, abs, climate control, leathers, navigation, or have you ever see an V8 car that is hyprid? I didn't think so, yes there is Toyota Crown Royal this car is selling world wide but not in the US.

Well, I just purchased a Camry '03, it's great, roomy, smooth, & a nice body too even though I like Accord better, but for the fact that its body looks "uneven" in some way :) In fact, I was told that Camry carries cheaper auto parts.

Have you ever seen a Lexus in Japan before? This car is purely made in japan but not for the japan Market. Good news for you, in about 2 years, Toyota will bring lexus to Japan market.

GEO Metro is a 3-cylinder vehicle, it has a Chevy badge power by the toyota corolla engine. it is the cooperation between Toy and Chevy. No longer exist because it sucks.
No Lexus does not exist in Japan, i'm from Japan CHS. I can give the name of the line of lexus if you want? I can even give the history of it too. Lexus mean nothing to me, it just a luxury division of Toyota oversea that all. Above that, they're plenty of killer cars than Lexus. Anything from Toyota and Nissan i know, other car companies i do too but not as much as these two. Have you hear about SCION?
