I like its look, pretty nice but check out the displacement, 1.3L for 250 horses? what the heck is this? it is the size of old honda civic or corolla.
What is the different between Mazda 'rotary' engine and standard one?

I don't know much about those rotary engines.
But one thing I know is ... hardly any mechanic wants to rebuild a Rx-7 engine :D

rotary is very different from the piston type engine...
a rotary of 1.3L should equivalent to about 2.6L <piston type> engine...
the revs on these rotaries are insane...

If you thinking about buying this car, I suggest you looking for a good shop that specialty on Rotation Engine. Second, you should save money now, since these rotation would cost you a lot of money to maintain. well the last thing, it will come out around mid-2003, and it will cost roughly about 28K.

This is the main problem with "rotary engine", it's hard to find a shop/mechanic that dares to touch the engine (ie, rebuild).
A friend of mine had a Rx-7. He had some problem with the engine and no one in town (Houston is a big town) can fix it. He ended up giving that car to Salvation Army :)

Yeah, sure U can bring it to a dealer to get a new engine replaced which will cost a lot more than the car ('89 Rx-7) is worth.
Smart way to go? :D :D :D

roltary engines have differ spec comparing to the piston ones !
it has much faster acceleration , lighter engine ... things that every racer wanted heh ?
however, so hard to fix if there is any problems apear !
Adjusting anything on roltary engine is another big issue too .
I don't have one , and I don't like one . I just like the piston design. :)

I think the rotary engine won't back down, it keep pushing out the power because the rotary engine start kicking you wheel can spin. And as for the standard engine it will kick but not as much as rotary engine especially your tires spin. Or you want to some more information check out this website http://autozine.kyul.net/classic/gm.htm#Rotory%20engine or watch japanese animation Initial D, hope this will answer your question.

Tròi ơi , chiếc này xấu bạo . ... worst than my wrx ..... and 250HP? That's kinna weak compare to all the models that will come out in the next year don't you think? ... Even Altima, Maxima hit 250HP range right now... co`n the coming EVO, STI, and right now the 350Z nu*~ , all near the 300HP .... I think any sport car in 2004 better have more than 300HP.
No doubt the RX-7 was one cool car... ngo.n powerful and look awsome, but this new version ..... I don't know. Kho^ng tha^'y hu*'ng thu*' cho la('m
