My first car was the 300zx 1985.
2x2 seat
3.0 v6 engine
T top (this option was really cool when I was in high school )
crashed the trainny, sale the car .
next one was Acura legend 1989 2 doors.
When the moon roof was not that interesting any more, that was the time for 1988 toyota celica GT convertible.
have fun with the convertible thru out the summer . So disappointed with the 2.4 4cylinders engine.
Work like a dog to lease the Ferrari Testarosa 1989 . flat engine .
speeding ticket
....speeding ticket
.....and speeding ticket
setle down with an Toyota MR 2 :) for lessthan 4 months .
No more 2 seaters !!
....then that was the time I boxed myself in a oldie family car, Toyota Cressida .
I tried to buy the Acura Legend 93 . But I could not get away with a really good offer for the Cressida . (destiny huh? )
drove the cressida to 300k miles plus .
And now, here I am with another used car . :) typical ordinary V6 one .
However, I truely, deeply in love with Porsche 911 . I've never own one .... but keep on dreaming ....some day .....some day ...
What's your first car ?
Which one you'd love to own ?

well i just have my 1st car, it's a toyota camry 1989, 4 cylinders each at about 2.2 litter (some where there, around the regular toyota camry) it's old, it doesn't run fast, but it's ok for now, probably get something when i'm in college (2 more years hehe) so.... i probably get something like a honda civic (cheap) or i might get an integra since there's alot of people driving around in them, not thing expensive though since i don't even have a job right now (that reminds me, i need to get one, hehe)

No matter how U mod 325, it can never run as fast as M3 (unless U put in turbo charged with Nitro boost)
To be honest with U, I would not put in Turbo charged (or Nitro boost) in this car because:
*** BMW engine is made very precise. Any attempt to mod spec will shorten the engine life or screw up the elec system.

Coldwind, you're right !
All M3 have their racing set up . Those ladies are not too far from the race track !!!
Beside the power, none of the 3 class can have the handling like M class .
Want more power for cheap? get a camaro and soup it up! much cheaper !
Want the best performance on curves ? M class, AMG , Dinan , S series from Porsche .....
nói mấy chữ này thôi thì đủ chảy nước miếng rồi :D

what do you mean precise??
i know guys that run their 3 series with 6 - 9lbs of boost daily..
no problems..
as long as you dont boost 15lbs without proper internal upgrades...boosting is safe...
btw...it wouldnt screw up the electrical..
and if you mean the ecu...there are ways to modify fuel maps..
another "btw"...the M3 doesnt have an insane amount of power that cant be achieved...

Nissan Pathfinder engine is not as good as Maxima's , yet, it is pulling a heavy load, so the rating for this SUV is so so not as good as the Toyota 4runner.

it that manual or auto, you mean when you driving and you didn't make a complete stop and change from R to D, D to R, D to P, or R to P, I did that couple of times, almost make a complete stop then I change from D to P, it felt like a very hard braking.

If your trans is manual, U're talking about the clutch :)
If your trans is auto, it must be pain to replace/rebuilt it cuz v6 camry comes with a Lexus trans ... hehe ... and U know when U touch a Lexus part ... Phỏng tay :D
By the way, not many people realize that the V6 Camry carries a lot of Lexus ES 300 parts :cigar:
I accidently put the Reverse when the car was rooling down hill
BTW, rebuild your tranmission is not that hard. My dad know how to rebuild the transmission for very cheap price. :) :)

My first car is 89 Chrysler LeBaron 2 doors, I didn't buy it though. Saw it in the garage after the summer school, my dad went out and bought it. It was the first so I liked it though. Drove it for 2 years until geting to college. I had to change 3 batteries because it drained battery like you drink beer, got into 2 accidents (not my fault), broke the timing belt but the engine was still OK. A crappy car, I hated it after all. That's why NO more cheap american car from now on.
Traded that car in for 90 Maxima SE loaded, drove this one for 2 weeks, the dealer took it back (what? what?) yes, they took it back because they said that they can't finance me. To hell with them I gave them the Maxima and took that crappy chrysler back. Drove it for a while in college.
Again traded that chrysler for a 93 honda civic. A nice small looking car, save a lot of gas for this one. Drove it for about 6 months then gave it to my sister which she totaled it about a year ago.
Went out to buy a 94 toyata camry (stupid choice, should keep the civic and let the sister get that camry (old man car)), drive that camry for 6 months. don't like it much because friends keep saying it is old man car. Gave that to my dad.
Went out to buy a 91 honda accord EX coupe, nice little black car. I like this one, run like a horse, never had any problems. Install an Alpine CD player (cost $450, very nice CD player), speakers, bazooka subs, 600 watts kenwood Amp and security system. Keep this car for about 4 years ubtil last year. In this time, I bought a 1995 Suzuki GSX-R 600cc. I love this one, almost got into accident a couple times. Mom and wife make me sell it, feel really sad but to make them happy.
Current vehicles: 2002 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition and 1997 Nissan Maxima SE (wife's car)

Hello ông conchimse , so you owned the Maxima too hả ?
We owned Maxima with spoiler too, one 1992, one 1998 'n love them .
Had to trade one in because the family is getting big .
I drive a Honda Odessey now, because of the kids, we 're getting old, our backs are breaking from bending into the sedan and getting the car seats out . With the van, you don 't have to do anything heavy because the inside is so roomy, plus the horse power is pretty good, I can still out-run lots of high schoolers in their low riders ! :D:D

want a sport look in Toyota?
1) Supra
2) MR2-spider
3) Solara
But most of these are high money for youngsters or kids, so they usually settle down with Honda Civic Prelude, or 2-dr Accord :)

U're a proud owner of Maxima huh?
I just wonder why U did not consider Toyota or Honda in mind?
About Maxima, this is a nice car. It used to be ranked equally with Camry and Accord, but recently fell out of the race b/c:
1) 85-88 Maxima has some electrical problem
2) 89-92 still have some problem
3) 93-96 did not get much improved in body style
4) 97-00 for some reason, many people are shifted away from this body style
5) This is probably the main reason is all Max comes with v6 or v6SE. They do not have 4 cylinders. Oriental people wanted cars with "wwwoooooddd" gas mileage and they don't think Maxima can deliver that :D
Personally, I like the Maximas. They have some good power. They have the same engine with 300zx :)

This is a really nice van. If I buy a van, this is what I have in mind :)
I don't know what "high schoolers in their low riders" are in your area ... hehe ... if they get "out-run" by a lady in a van, they need to take some of my "offensive driving" class :cigar: :cigar: :cigar:

I believe that the Ex-Prelude and 2-door accord cost as much as the Solora and Spider though considering the same year.
I know that most Viet people in my town choose Honda accord and Toyota camry over Maxima. The first reason is that they are cheaper than the Maxima, and the second reason is that they don't know Maxima. It is a powerful vehicle, breaking and handling well, nice wheel, nice interior, Boss sterio system power everything..... Eventhough it is not as reliable as Honda and Toy.
IMO, I choose Maxi over accord or camry or mitsi or mazda.

Not true, 2003 top-of-the-line Prelude or 2-dr v6 Accord is about $24-26K vs
2003 top-of-the-line Solara ($30K) or Spider ($32K)

1) Accord and Camry are not cheaper than Maxima. If U take a top-of-the-line Accord or Camry vs Maxima SE, U will see.
2) Not that they don't know Maxima. But more like they (most Viet people) don't like any other name besides Honda and Toyota :)

The reason we did not go for Camry or Accord is that we went on
Edmunds.com and did a price search, model, accessories or options comparison, and the Maxima came in V-6, better horse power, loaded interior than the Camry. All the C.D, moon roof, sun roofs, are all included where as the Camry came in "empty" starting out at 27K,
We bargained and walked away at 28K , the car was fully loaded , slightly below MSRP .
I hate Honda (with the exception of my van , ofcourse, :D) because recently Honda line has too many electrical problems. People went all over their Honda 's Forum and complain and for 2 years in a row, they have done nothing to improve the problems, because they know people still blindly buy their cars. They had a recall recently too.
My sister in law has a brand new 2000 Accord, and the electrical panel keep flashing, giving her all kinds of warning, had to take it to the dealer, rip it apart and replace many parts . The microchipped key jammed, costs a bundle to replace.
I don't have any problem with the Maxima so far, knock on wood, and I love the sporty look , plus the odometer round one white on black reminds me of German cars like Volkswagen .
Where or what survey/magazine did you read about the rankings ?
--If you read about Best buy car of the year, ofcourse most people buy Camry and Accord because the name has been around longer .
But smart people :cigar: , go for the Maxima, more for the money.
Exceptional customer service --Where do you go , if you have extended warrantee, for check up , even minor details, the dealer would have someone clean & wash your car inside and out ?
This is not true if you buy Benz or B.W , or any luxury line of course, I'm speaking in terms of economy, popular family affordable cars. I have not heard any good comments from Toyota or Honda dealers .

I owned both Accord and Camry before (old models) and the thing I don't like much about Honda is its "Shock" transmission, beside that I got no problem with it. About Camry, I'm a young adult so I don't like the look of older car. Even though, thiese 2 cars reputations are great. I like Maxi better because of its look and performance and all the goodies.
I know this topic is not going anywhere since each individual has his/her own opinion/taste. So why don't we just settle it from here, deal?

Not in 1998, not at that price fully loaded Cis. Now , the cars value had gone down because many people were out of jobs .
Back in 1997, and 1998, Cars /job markets were in big demands.
We did our research througly cis ! :cigar:
I agree with conchimse , in Honda accords, civic, esp. in older cars, after awhile they started to have "shock " or "dựt dựt " syndromes after you shift gear, esp. from neutral to rear or neutral to drive .
My relatives own both Hondas Accord and T. camrys and I have driven all of them,
The camry V 4 , when get old , started to lose its power touch too, heheh, can not climb hills either .! :D:D
That is why --- I bought my Maximas, when I had money and went on my own, ---after experiencing all these old age syndromes of Camry and Accord .

ok, to fully explain the statement I made to cis , I said "you could not get it at that price because back in 98" because:
The imported cars were limited into the U.S. .At that time it costs alot to buy Jap. new car, any type from Toyota to Honda, to Nissan. So car makers have turned to making their cars more luxurious to make up for the restricted quantities, and more people had money because the job market was good, they were willing to pay for that price.
Now the economy has gone down a little bit so the price has dropped and people can easily get brand new cars of that 4 door family sedan around that price with more options .
1)If you are talking about the first post where I mentioned "economy"--
Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Nissan Maxima, and Ford Taurus are often "grouped" together as a Mid-Sized economy cars or 4- doors sedan for family .by car magazines or by rental industries when you go out and rent, that would be their classification. Not the Luxury line .
Their term "economy "here means practical, affordable by most working 2 income earners family . The term economy has nothing to do with the engines, particularly in maxima.
If you are talking about more smaller line of compact "economy cars" then it would be the civic, corrolla, and the altima, escort, etc.....
2)In the 2nd post ,
I'm not talking about econonmy and cars for no reason, I'm not referring to the engines, I'm talking about the restrictions on quantities of imports on car, and what do you mean by it's funny ?
However, I do agree with you that it is a personal reference . I do not said or assume, ( Even if I do insinuate that, there are laughing icons, or cigar icons when I make those statements, which means I'm not serious) that Nissan is better than Honda or toyota, I just said I have driven all of them, and my personal preference is Nissan .

well...im not the technical police here...
but i saw 2 wrong infos..
the nissans generations were wrong..
plus..maxima and 300z do not share the same engine..
although at least a few years maxima did have a 3.0L engine..
but that engine is different from the 3.0/3.3L of 300z
you were probably confused between the infinity j30 and the maxima ;)

tammy....
as you know..insurance rates and gas mileage play a big factor when you speak of economy...
of course you do also realize that ur 98maxima is a v6 3.0 that consumes more gas compare to hondas v6 <weight comes into play>
thats why i said its funny to compare the maxima and other hondas in term of economy...
im not here to challege your views...just a few thoughts ;)
btw...the largest recall since 01 is by ..... u guessed it..
Nissan..
they recalled 140000 vehicles due to bad seal on brake system..or something like that..
higly reliable you said?
i wouldnt think so
