most of the times when the car shakes like that...it is caused by suspension problems..
check your tires first..you might wanna check to see if your car is off balance <a shop can do this for you>
does it only shake when you drive at a certain speed?
or does it do that when you lightly step on the brake?

My car is always shaking when idling. It 's OK when running.

do you know how many cylinder in the engine, I suspect one of the cylinder (engine) not running. I think you need to tune up your car. I am not a machanic but I have experience like that with my old car.

Nếu steering wheel bị rung thì cần alignment xe lại, nếu để chạy wài dzị một bánh xe sẽ bị mòn hơn bánh kia.

Pika,

U said "My car is always shaking when idling."
I'm assuming that happens when U're in a stop light (if not, let me know) ...
If this is the case, then these are the potential problems:
1) Your engine (front) and trans (back) mounts are bad (common problem for '92 Accord)
2) You need a tune up (check plugs, adjust intake air, check timing)

Playboi, Kiến Vàng,Wolf and Coldwind cảm ơn tất cả nha.

Yes, Coldwin is correct. My car is shaking like an old man at stop sign and it seems like an teen-ager to me when running. I have replaced an auto part which looks like a leg bone with a thick rubber cylinder at each end. Shaking desease tends to decrease a little bit with the new part.

Is it easy to replace a trans mount ?

Yes, it is.
Drive on your on a ram.
Use a hydraulic jack to support the trans.
Take out 2 bolts that hold the mout and replace it.

The problems might be at follows

1) Carburetor or Fuel injection. Clean or replace parts

2) Distributor including wires and the spark plugs. Clean, check for broken wire or replace them

3) If smoke or alot of smoke, check your exhausting system, Valves problems or rings worn out. This case the engine needs to rebuilt.

4) or replace the car don't mess around, waste your time and $

All of the above do not apply to his '92 Accord :D :D :D

Coldwind,

Is trans the engine ?

No, Trans os short for transmission (hộp số)

Accord 92 có 2 cái mounts chính:
1) Engine mount (in front)
2) Trans mount (in back)

i agree with anhthu..
it could be those that he mentioned..
rarely would it be the engine mount that cause the car to shake and rattle..

pika...how did u check your carb and fuel injector?
u just didnt look at it did u?
sometimes insufficient fuel at idle would cause the rattling..
at least try to clean your injectors...
secondly...it could be the carb...you would need to clean that too..
itll b nice if you can get your valves readjusted..

Trust me,
I know Accord pretty well ... engine/trans mount is a very common problem for those with 100+K miles :D

'92 Accord does not have carburator. It has a very good EFI engine :)

Still shaking?
It could be anything!
Could it be...
+ Blow head gasket (?)- Open oil cap to see if there is muddy oil (cà phê sũa) inside the cap.
+ use rubber handle plier to pull out spark plug wire (while engine still running and plug it back afterward) one at the time, the engine should run differently. If pulling one and the Eng still runs the same.
+ turn it off, take that spark plug out checking for the color at the tip of the plug. If you see any black/white/blue deposit or smell gas. you solve haft of the problem.
+ Go inside, turn your Comp up, connect to VCB and let us know...

that same prob occurs 2 me too, and the prob is ENGINE MOUNT (it like a socket that attached the engine to the frame of the car)

there are four engine mounts: front, back, left and right. what it does is; it acts like a shock absorber which absorbs all the vibrations caused by the engine as well as to keep the engine in place. quite expensive to replace them.

I told him this is the potential problem (very common in old Hondas)

Wrong !!!

There are only 2 engine mounts (1 front, 1 on driver side)
The other two are transmission mounts (1 back, 1 on pass side)
And the front engine mount is very simple to replace.
But an engine mount about $60 and replace it yourself (takes about 15 min to do it)
1) Drive the car on the rams
2) Jack the engine up little bit
3) Take out two bolts that hold the mount
4) Replace the mount

Yes. After changing the front engine mount , shaking syndrome reduces significantly. It's really easy to replace the front engine mount. How about the trans mount ? Is it easy ?

I checked my car and saw where the trans mount is. That place is too crowed with pipes. Do I need to take the whole trans out to replace that mount ?

Trans mount is little harder but not that hard.
I don't know which one U need to replace.
U can inspect the mount by looking for crack or broken.
There are 2 trans mounts (1 on the passenger side, and 1 on the back)
U DON'T HAVE TO TAKE THE TRANS OUT TO REPLACE THE MOUNT !!!

The mount is held the same way engine mount.
Get some jack to support the trans when taking out the bolt.

Pikachu bro ,

I totally agree with ColdWind . Your car might need to have mounting replaced. Looking forward to having a FAST Chess game at Clubxiangqi.com after your car getting fixed.

Good luck bro :)
